Candidate Competency Performance Chart
Throughout academic career at New York Institute of Technology Mental Health Counseling program, I developed strong clinical, collaborative, and professional counseling skills through my coursework, practicum, and internship experiences. I gained experience working with diverse populations, addressing crisis and trauma, creating case conceptualizations and treatment plans, and applying ethical and legal standards in counseling. I collaborated with supervisors, families, and other professionals to support client care, while also using a range of counseling approaches such as CBT, DBT, Person-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and ERP. In addition, I strengthened my professional identity through membership in the American Counseling Association, attending trainings and workshops, and developing greater self-awareness and understanding of the responsibilities of a professional counselor. Overall, my academic and field experiences prepared me for my future role as a mental health counselor.
